Holiday Party 101: Ordering Food Delivery

By Kaitlin Hurtado on December 31, 2018

Even with the end of the winter holiday season quickly approaching, it is never too late to host your very own holiday party. Whether it be a late Christmas party, a New Year’s Countdown, or just using the holiday season as an excuse to get together with friends, holiday parties can be as laid back or formal as you want them to be. As host, there are different responsibilities that you must take on — one of them is supplying the food for your guests. Depending on the type of holiday party you are planning to host, you may need a full spread of food for a meal, or you may just want to supply snacks or appetizers to keep guests content.

You do not have to take on the burden of supplying food for all your guest by yourself, however. You can call on your guests to have a potluck and bring various dishes to contribute to the party’s food spread or get order food through delivery to cut the amount of preparation for the holiday party immensely. If you are wondering what kind of food you should be ordering for delivery for your holiday party, consider the following if you are planning on ordering food through your party:

Pizza

Pizza is probably one of the first things that come to many people’s minds when it comes to food that is easy to order for delivery. Pizza is usually less expensive when you are looking at a tight budget, and bigger companies like Pizza Hut or Domino’s Pizza always offer coupons that you could pick from depending on what works best for you and your holiday party. Not only can you order pizza, but you can also order chicken wing, bread, and salads all within the same delivery.

Pizza is also versatile when it comes to being able to please everyone’s personal tastes. Satisfy vegetable lovers with an all-vegetable pizza, or put a variety of meat to make a more filling slice. You can definitely do your best to please a plethora of personal tastes when you are choosing pizza without breaking your budget.

Pre-cut slices make it even easier for people to serve themselves without the issue of serving size or excess utensils.

Chicken wings

If you have other options available for your vegetarian and vegan friends, chicken wings may be a great food to order for delivery for your holiday party. You can go from mild flavors like classic barbeque or lemon pepper, to more flavors with a bit of a kick like mango habanero. You can go the boneless route or go more traditional — just be prepared to spend a little more on napkins as chicken wings tend to be a bit messier as saucy finger food.

Popular wing places like Wingstop often offer discounts on bulk purchases if you are hosting a larger holiday party – the more leftovers the better, right?

Sushi

Although unconventional when it comes to the typical list of delivery foods, sushi can be the perfect option when it treating your guests at your holiday party. Like pizza, it will be easy to please many people with sushi because there will be so many options to choose from. You can go anywhere from the typical California roll for people that are not that familiar with sushi, to more traditional rolls for your friends that are sushi aficionados.

With sushi delivery, it will also be fairly easy to serve as guests will be able to choose how much and what kind of sushi they are going to consume, and the mess created will be minimal. Sushi may be a little bit more expensive than typical food delivery options, but can be well worth it when your guests leave satisfied and happy with the holiday party.

Sandwiches

When it comes to being a people pleaser, ordering sandwiches for delivery for your holiday party can often do the trick. You can get a variety of sandwiches to suit a variety of tastes at your holiday party: a classic Turkey, a spicy Italian, a ham and cheese, the possibilities are almost endless. You can make the sandwiches as healthy or filling as you want them to be. You also will not have to worry about serving guests when sandwiches are easy to grab and require no utensils.

Depending on the place you are hiring from, you may want to ask if they have sandwich kits or do deconstructed sandwiches, giving your guests the chance to customize the sandwich depending on their own personal tastes and increasing your chances of satisfying every guest’s taste. Sandwich kits will often include a variety of spreads or sauces, meats, cheese, and vegetables for guests to build their own sandwich creation.

Make this year’s holiday party unforgettable, and less of a hassle for you as the party host, by ordering one or more of these foods for delivery and adding it to the night’s menu.
